The Long Goodbye is Sichuanese artist Baishui's 2022 brand-new album which is a beautiful collection of love songs that showcases his unique style and skill as a singer-songwriter. Despite The Long Goodbye focuses more on traditional folk structures and guitar-based compositions, Baishui manages to infuse each track with poetic expression and political metaphor, creating a warm and melodic texture that is both beautiful and thought-provoking.

As Baishui's 18th album, it features collaborations between Baishui and other artists. Especially the contributions of his friend Liu Tao 劉濤 and the Chinese rising rock star Su Zixu 蘇紫旭, as well as the cover of Kidney 腰樂隊's "Love Fades Away In That Summer / 情歸何處" add even more depth and variety to Baishui’s 18th album. In particular, the collaboration with Liu Tao on "Finding That Blue Star / 記一位井邊的樸拙少年" showcases the beauty and details of his iconic vocals, which perfectly complement Baishui's guitar work and poetic lyrics. The song's simple yet evocative melody and imagery make it a standout track on the album.The inclusion of a cover of Kidney's "Love Fades Away In That Summer" is also a nice touch, highlighting Baishui's connections to other musicians and his appreciation for the work of his peers. The cover retains the emotional intensity and the atmosphere of the text of the original while also showcasing Baishui's own unique style and interpretation.
